My relationship with 2006 – The Year That Was.

2006. What a word. What a year. 2006 has been an eventful year, at least to me. There were lots of ups and downs in 2006, good news and the occasionally not-so-good news. If I were to describe 2006 in a few words, I can proudly proclaim that 2006 is nothing but just a rollercoaster ride. You yelled at the top of your lungs when you needed to, and you grabbed and held onto the railings when you were in the midst of difficulties. Well, things always happen when you least expected them to happen, this is life for me during the whole of 2006. As quoted from the movie ‘Forrest Gump’, life is just a box of chocolates, you would never know what is gonna happen the next moment. How true indeed.

A few things that made 2006 a rollercoaster ride for me :

- A-levels results were out. And it sucked. Badly. And it was (is still) a great blow to me.

- Working as a credit control officer for 2 months in Citibank Singapore Ltd has given a chance for me to earn big (at least to me) bucks. My colleagues were all very friendly and nice people. My boss and supervisors were kind enough to me. I sincerely thank God for this wonderful (although stressful) working experience.

- Being rejected by 2 top universities in Singapore – NUS and NTU. Meaning, I stand NO chance AT ALL to enter NUS and NTU. It was my first time experiencing the taste of rejection in my life. And boy, this feeling sucked. A lot.

- Granted admission by Monash University Malaysia. It marked the start of my new phase of life – University life. Met some really nice people in Monash. And till today, I thank God to have them in my life.

- Got my first laptop. Acer brand. Not those high-end laptops, but I’m still satisfied with it. At least I have my own personal laptop now. However, I’m still wishing for a Sony Vaio.

- Being able to study for only 4 months within the whole of 2006. The rest of the 8 months was spent rotting and idling my time away. No complaints though. Hah.

- Broke up with The Boyfriend once. Or twice. I forgot to keep count. It was heart-wrenching. And I was amazed at the amount of tears I had. Not to forget, I was always emo with The Boyfriend but yet he is trying to love me more and understand me better. I sincerely thank God to have him in my life. And shall try not to take him for granted anymore. I promise.

- Pampered myself with a spanking brand new iPod Nano 4GB in sexy black colour. There goes my hard-earned money. No regrets though. =)

- Being able to pursue a degree in communications (or mass communications) in Monash University. I feel lucky for this, as I’m able to do what I wanna do in life.

*reflections*

With 2007 a couple more hours away from us, I seriously hope that 2007 would be a better year. For all of us. May 2007 be a blessed year. No wars, no crimes, no man-made disasters, no natural disasters. Just peace.

As for me, hopefully i'll gain more weight, get straight-D grades for all my subjects(D as in Distinction), save more money, be more healthy, and not to forget, be a better person, better daughter, and a better girlfriend. This roughly sums up my 2007 New Year Resolutions. Hehe.

A toast to an eventful 2006. Thank you 2006, for those unforgettable yet memorable experiences.

May 2007 bring us joy and hope in abundance. Cheers!

*glasses clicking against each other*

In less than 7 hours, there would be a NYE pot-luck party at my house. It is time to let our hair down. For the last time in 2006. I guess i should go help to prepare the food now, and for the time being, HAPPY NEW YEAR !! I'm sure 2007 would be a better year for all of us. ;)

Till next year, enjoy and savour this last day of 2006. (:

The World Is Coming To An End?

It's getting more and more real,

With the 24/7 non-stop rain,

It seems like the rain will last forever,

And now there's this Earthquake in Taiwan,

Which disrupted Asia's internet connection,

And I can't seem to connect to others online,

Oh why, Oh why must there always be natural disasters happening at this time of the year?

God's punishment towards mankind?

Perhaps.

But what i'm certain of is that...

The world seems to be coming to an end.

It is the beginning of an end.

God, we need You. Really.

It's time to be merry and bright.

In less than 48 hours, it's gonna be Christmas. How time flies. Listening to christmas carols while typing out this blog puts me in this very christmassy mood. Think roasted turkey, Santa Claus, Santarinas, christmas trees, christmas lightings, and all the christmassy stuff. However, Christmas is not about showing off how many presents u received or how expensive your presents are. One thing bad about Christmas nowadays is that it's getting more and more commercialized...which is quite sad to acknowledge this fact.

The spirit of Christmas
Is the spirit of Love
It's something that you cannot buy,
It's something from above.

Star light, Star bright.

I've been busy recently, with the SSI massive get-together gathering, and the frequent over-the-causeway trips, not forgetting going to the big-ass shopping centre with the family in Singapore just two days ago. VivoCity is the biggest and latest shopping mall in Singapore so far. An expensive place but nevertheless it's fun to watch the crowd spending money like nobody's business. Oh well, i'm still waiting for the post-Christmas sale in Singapore so that i can afford to shop till i drop next week. HeeeeHaaaah. But then again, i'm broke and i need lotsa lotsa Vitamin M. Any donors?

The latest and biggest shopping mall in Singapore.

Anyways. Looking at my busy Christmas schedule, I guess this is my last post before Christmas. Will try my best to blog once more before the end of 2006. I so need to come out with my new year resolutions. Hmm...

One of my favourite Christmas carols... (:

City sidewalks,

busy sidewalks

Dressed in holiday style

In the air

There's a feeling of Christmas

Children laughing

People passing

Meeting smile after smile

And on every street corner

you'll hear

Silver bells, silver bells

It's Christmas time in the city

Ring-a-ling, hear them ring

Soon it will be Christmas day

Strings of street lights

Even stop lights

Blink a bright red and green

As the shoppers rush

Home with their treasures

Hear the snow crunch

See the kids bunch

This is Santa's big scene

And above all this bustle

you'll hear

Silver bells, silver bells

It's Christmas time in the city

Ring-a-ling, hear them ring

Soon it will be Christmas day

Till then, enjoy the festive christmassy mood around you, happy christmas and god bless.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! ;)

A very meaningful quote

Character
- People are like teabags. You have to put them into hot water before you can know how strong they are.

If only heaven was made of ice-cream.

You would know if you're feeling high, if you keep on smiling and smiling for NOTHING. Ok... maybe for only one thing that is - ICE CREAM!!!

*craving for Ben&Jerry's*

Ben&Jerry's!

Was indulging in my gelato italian ice-cream along Orchard.

La la la la~ ~ ~

*drools*

*drools even more*

*drooling and staring with mouth wide-opened*

*faints*

Thank God I managed to have my ice-cream. Had two flavours - Wild berries and Dark Chocolate. I was ascended to heaven immediately upon tasting the ice-cream. (:

Total sheer bliss indeed. Will be dreaming of ice-cream tonight.

Hooked on Wireless.

Yup. I think you can guess what i'm gonna blog about right now. It's the private Wireless Internet Connection (WiFi) i'm talking about right now. My whole house is WiFi-enabled, please congratulate me! WHEE! =D No more fighting over for the Internet, no more Internet usage timetables, etc. Now, it's just Me and the Wireless Connection.
*inhales deeply*

As i'm blogging right now, i'm sitting comfortably at the dining table while indulging in the songs on my laptop. The mother went to bed super early today, due to tiredness. The sister went to bed super early as well as it's only 10.15pm right now. As for the father, he is reading the papers in the living room. The brother won't be at home for one week, starting from today till Sunday because he went for his school trip to Pulau Pangkor/Genting Highlands/KL.

So yup, it's very peaceful and calm and quiet right now. Perfect time to blog.

Talking about my brother, i feel so freaking jealous and i guess i know what's the reason. It's because my father bought his favourite son a Fujitsu Made-In-Japan laptop. (I own an Acer Made-In-China laptop) Talking about favouritism here.... Hmm...

*raises an eyebrow*

Anyways. I'm craving for some Maggi noodles right now... Might cook some for myself very very soon. And oh, my maternal granny went back to Singapore last night after my cousin's wedding dinner. And yup, it's grandma-less at my house right now with 2 empty rooms.

................................

On a different note, I met up with Su Jun in Singapore last Wednesday. We spent the whole afternoon and evening at Orchard. Our legs were useless as they got tired quite easily. We were quite tempted to buy the shorts at Forever 21 but we wanted to see more of other shops first. But even if we wanted to buy, the shorts didn't fit us well enough as they were too loose. Oh well. What a pity. I'm still thinking of that pair of shorts right now.......... it's simply too comfy. Too bad....

Su Jun! Look here!

wheeee

We had dinner at Geylang. Our very first time to Geylang for the both of us. Heeeeeeee. The boyfriend brought us there since he visited Geylang before. Haha. For those who do not know Geylang, it's the famous yet legal red-light district in Singapore where all the prostitutes roam the streets. I kid you not. It's actually quite a sleazy place after my first visit to Geylang. We spotted so many prostitutes, gosh. It's unbelieveable. Su Jun and I were kinda scared of the place as we were scared that we might contact some HIV virus from the air. We played safe, we didn't dare to touch anything except for our utensils. Although Geylang is a sleazy and dangerous place, it's also a food haven. Gosh!

We had dinner TWICE. This was our first stop:

Geylang famous Beef Hor Fun.

Kangkung belacan and the famous Beef Hor Fun. The Kangkung belacan was seriously good! *drools*

Su Jun's blue-coloured nails and the famous beef hor fun.

Su Jun and The Boyfriend. They're so-called kazens.

Su Jun and I.

Our second stop :

Think frog porridge. *drools*

Frogs are seriously good stuff to eat!

This was what we had. Frog plus porridge.

Frog porridge puts a smile on my face. =)

The three of us.

The Boyfriend and I.

This is Geylang. A very different part of Singapore. Sleazy place. Reminder: Never ever go there alone especially you're a girl.

*burp* Excuse me. I just finished my Maggi noodles. My stomach is satisfied now. *burps again* I guess i should sleep early tonight. *long burp*

The cruise at night. It was parked at the jetty. We were all ready to board the cruise.
Posing in front of the cruise.

It says here : "Danga Cruise 8".

The mother's side relatives. My cousin and his bride.

We dined at Table Number Ten.

The mirror ceiling of the cruise. It made the whole place brighter.

The three ladies in the house. Me, my mum, and my sis. =)

Everyone was chilling out at the dock after the dinner.

The cousins got together. Yup, i was wearing a shawl together with my white tube dress.

Another cousin's wedding dinner this sunday! Whee!

More updates soon. I promise. For the time being, enjoy the weekend.

Again

Will be going to Singapore tonight since my dad will be going out to Singapore tonight as well. Got free car ride. So why not?

Can't help it. Su Jun just came back from Adelaide and she's damn bored and need me to accompany her in Singapore. So yeah... =)

My online time slot is over. Gotta stop now. My bro and I just made an agreement on the time we go online each day. Gotta follow the rules strictly, so don't play play. And yes, it means the End of The SPM Season for all 17-year-olds. Hopefully the parents can get a wireless router for the house. We need one very badly.

Wanna blog about a lot of things now. But i just couldn't find my focus. Argh.

Will be back on Thursday.

The Luxury of Simplicity

That's the essence of my new blogskin. How true indeed. To be simple, it is a luxury. It doesn't hurt to be simple. I kinda like this skin because it's bright (for once), and simple, and somehow i find it sweet. Love the picture a lot. The pureness, the innocence, the tranquility of the picture means a lot to me. I love it.

*smiles*

Okie. It's time for me to sleep now. Will try to blog seriously from tomorrow onwards. My brother said he got some surprise for me tomorrow, and i'm still wondering what it is.
