life's good...so far.
The weekend was great.
Thanks for the lovely weekend, baby.
I love you.

world music: a new phenomenon
The Rainforest World Music Festival is a unique festival that bringstogether on the same stage renowned world musicians from all continents and indigenous musicians from the interiors of the mythical island of Borneo.
Its formula of afternoon informative workshops, ethno-musical lectures, jamming sessions and mini concerts, followed by eveningperformances on the main stage has proven to be a hit with the audience, who come from near and far.
The festival site also sets up a variety of food and drink stalls, an arts and crafts area as well as a counter for festival memorabilia, Sarawak souvenirs and CDs by the performing artists, all this contributing to a fun filled, wholesome festival experience. World Music plus a country fair atmosphere in the midst of lush greenery.
The Rainforest World Music Festival, a not-to-be-missed occasion, guarantees a smashing time in the heart of the Borneo Jungle!
And yes, i was actually there last weekend to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
And we stayed at the nearby Santubong Kuching Resort.
A night before we headed down to Santubong, we were actually in Kuching, in Aunty Susie's place for a night. Look at the satellite dish in the photo above, it was spotted in Aunty Susie's place. And guess what, it is an 'open secret' for Sarawakians to have one in their house! Imagine, you can actually watch thousands and thousands of TV channels from all over the world!
Kuching - the capital of Sarawak, also known as the city of CATS. meowwwwwwwwwww... *trying to sound like a cat
For your info, it wasn't my first time in Kuching, it was actually my 2nd time there.
The photos below were all taken at the Sarawak Cultural Village, the place where the festival was held at. Enjoy!
L-R: The sister, Me, the mother, Pei Ling (sis's fren) and her brother, Yao Wen.
The main stage was just right behind us, where it came alive only at night. (:
That's the tree stage. Pretty cute, isn't it? *winks
Mother and daughter.
Mother and another daughter. ;)
While waiting for the concert to start. Teeheeee.
Me and my Heineken! ;)
The workshop by Huun Huur Tu from Tuva & Russia. It was pretty impressive as the awesome mysterious throat singers of Central Asia with their traditional instruments, wonderful costumes and culture, juxtaposed with urban Russian contemporary musicians. Really unique sounds i must say.
The first workshop:
The Oldest Instrument In The World. The human voice in different cultures. They came from all over the world: Madagascar, Vietnam, Russia, Tuva, Poland, UK, Afghanistan, Peru, Chile, Australia, Italy, USA, Scotland, Zimbabwe, Canada, and Malaysia. They were seriously good and talented musicians!
At night, this was where the party started. The lively music got everyone dancing on their feet, swaying along with the beats and rhythms of the music. Atmosphere was great! Danced, danced and danced. We practically danced the night away. ;)
However, the whole thingy looks more like a club, something like ZoukOut minus the variety of alcohol. They served only Heineken here, that's why. There were so many ang-mohs, and they were practically smoking like nobody's business. -.- A few locals (i presume they're Sarawakians) looked high and started kissing their partners. I guess Sarawakians are pretty open-minded, no? I didn't feel as if i was in Malaysia when i was there. Heh.
Overall, it was a good experience for me. My favourite musicians are from Madagascar and Zimbabwe! They can really dance! And the workshops were fun! (: Definitely worth the money and time to attend this festival as the music played were of world-class standard. It's unique music, and not mainstream music, which makes it really good.
*smiles to herself
P.S.: The photos above are just a small fraction of the whole collection of photos we took. So, just look at whatever that is posted in this blog. =p
And yes, i'm back in KL again. My 2nd year has officially started. Unfortunately, it didn't start off with a bang. Instead, it started off with me always feeling lost in the damn new and damn concrete campus. So yeah, the new Monash campus is NOT a big deal. It's just a few blocks of buildings with ultra-cold air conditioning and A LOT of lifts and staircases to confuse people. Nothing impressed me so far... so yeah... there it goes.
forever 21
Date: 6th of July 2007
Venue: New Lucky Seafood Restaurant
Those who attended: The Lims, the Choos, and the Chens. (close family friends)
Felt really blessed to celebrate my 21st with my family and close family friends. Thank you Uncle Choo, Aunty Yoke Chang, Uncle Chen and Aunty Chen for turning up. Also, a very big thank you to Teck Jian, Li Wei and Yuan Xiang for sharing the birthday cake with me as well! ;) Last but not least, i thank God for the lovely parents i have. They are seriously the greatest parents on earth. Without them, i wouldn't be 21 today, i wouldn't be who i am today.
THANK YOU PAPA!THANK YOU MUMMY!*hugs and kisses*
And yes, secret recipe's cheesecakes are always good. ;)
The siblings. The older sister and the younger brother. I know we don't look alike. Heh.
A very memorable 21st birthday. I was really touched.
Thanks be to God. (:
P.S.: Thanks for all the birthday wishes from whoever who wished me! *winks
off to sarawak
Will be off to
Sarawak (
Kuching to be precise) till Monday. A total of 4 days 3 nights. Will be catching the flight at 7.25pm later today. Purpose of this trip is to attend the world famous
Rainforest World Music Festival which is held annually at the Sarawak Cultural Village at Santubong.
Will be going with the mother, the sister, the sister's friend and her brother. 5 of us. The father didn't go because he's not interested. Too bad. Oh yeah, will be staying at the
Santubong Resort, pretty nice resort and it's a BEACH resort! Yay! (:
Packed everything already. From undergarments to pyjamas to bermudas to t-shirts to bikinis. Checked, checked, checked. This trip is gonna be exciting. Wheeeeee.
Won't be blogging till i manage to drag my butt back to Kuala Lumpur successfully. Heh, i'm seriously one busy woman here, as i've mentioned before. Coming back from Sarawak on Monday... and flying off to KL again the next morning. Tell me, where got time to blog?
Till then, for those from Monash, enjoy the remaining holidays! And Good Luck for each and everyone of you who's gonna check the results tomorrow! Heh.
a lil getaway from the busy city
Venue: Leisure Farm Resort @ Gelang Patah.
Date: Two weekends ago. (Sorry, i don't remember dates.)
Who: My beloved woman and the boys. =p
Purpose of the trip: It's a ritual for us. (:
Lots of pictures taken during the trip, just that my woman haven't pass me the photos on her camera yet. =( I BADLY NEED THOSE PICTURES, WOMAN! *shouts innocently
This resort is not bad for retirement, IF you've got the spare money to buy the houses here. 90% of the houses here are bought by Singaporeans, so that explains why there were so many Singapore-plated cars parked outside the houses.
The resort has a scenic view, of almost everything. From ducks, to trees, to flowers, to a mini waterfall, and of course, to cute lil pebbles!
*winks (It's a good shot, wei jian!)
Kenneth prepared potato salad for lunch! We finished everything in a few minutes as we were darn hungry. It tasted good as well! (: And we even had cup noodles after that as we were still darn hungry. Random choice of food, we were pretty satisfied! Hehe.
Obviously, we were having a blast! Especially playing drinking games and getting ourselves high and happy with dry gin mixed with lemonade. (:
And thank God we survived that night!
Hehe!
Can't wait for the next round of gathering! Love you people lots! (:
P.S.: And yes, i've finally turned Twenty One. The age of freedom and the passage to adulthood.
July is my month
As i've mentioned before, i'm
one busy woman during this one-month break. Like seriously, this coming weekend is my 3rd weekend here and i didn't really rot/stone much at home. Well, it's good and bad at the same time. It's good because i get to spend quality time with friends and my man. It's bad because i'm not always at home with the mother. Oh wells, but i spent a lot of time outside with the family too. So it's all good! (:
Below are the photos i took during my 3-days-2-nights stay in Singapore... I shall let the photos do the talking. ;)
Day One:6 of us were at Vivocity, savouring french cuisine for dinner. Pretty good food i would say. The 6 people include Jean (my twin) and her man - Jeff, Leonard (Jean's friend), Kai (who hails from KL), my man and I. We were darn full after the complete meal which consist of a drink, a main course of our choice, and a dessert of our choice.
*burps (excuse me)
After a refreshing shower, after a change of clothes, after slapping some decent amount of make-up on our faces, we headed down to Ministry of Sound (MOS) to have some good time. And oh yes, because it's Ladies' Night as well.
*grins
The guy in red is Luke! My Singaporean friend from Monash. Gosh, he knows quite a lot of people working in MOS. o.O
By the way, my man didn't join us because he was tired and has to wake up early for work the next morning (poor baby). Anyway, i had fun with the rest, nonetheless!
;)

Day Two:The next day, i woke up late (as usual after a night of clubbing). Had a really painful headache on the left side of my head. However, i felt much better after having my late lunch with my twin and her man. Teehee.
At night, i took a bus from PGP (Jean's place) to Marina Square all alone just to meet up with my man. Boy, i think i must be damn blur or still very stoned from the alcohol flowing freely in my veins, i had actually missed the bus stop i'm supposed to alight. I seriously think i do amaze myself sometimes, no? I reached Marina Square in one piece, just that i was
er... late. -.-
Yummy yummy tomyam steamboat @ Thai Express. Just me and my man. I had the tomyam steamboat all by myself while my man ordered his softshell crab with rice. The tomyam was too spicy for him. I was happy though, slurping down the hot and spicy tomyam soup down my throat.... Ahhhhh!
***
Day Three:My man didn't work on Friday as I wanted him to accompany me the whole day. Heeheehee. I was a happy woman once again, with his hand in my hand while checking out the Great Singapore Sale @ Orchard. (: We were at Plaza Singapura at first, then we headed to taka and spent most of our time at Takashimaya (my favourite shopping mall in Singapore). Had my favourite gelato ice-cream, shopped at BodyShop, bought myself a lovely necklace, and chose my birthday presents paid by the parents. I will reveal my birthday presents in the next post, i promise! =D
At night, we headed to Suntec City for dinner. NYDC - one of my favourite restaurants in Singapore. They serve really good baked rice and not to forget mud pies! (:
Ain't he sweet? He always eat what i like to eat and doesn't complain! (:
*winks
P.S.: There are still A LOT of photos coming up in the next few entires. Be patient and please pray harder that i'll be free enough to blog again.
I NEED A LONGER HOLIDAY, MONASH!
