what i've been up to lately

As i promised, here are the pictures of the A-level friends gathering @ Midvalley two weeks ago. It was pretty nostalgic and of course, it felt great to have a get-together with them since our A-level days. Audrey, Angeline, Azfa, Azah, Esther, Gillian, you gals rock! ;) Cheers to this bunch of wacky future lawyers! Hehe.

Me, Esther, Audrey.

With Audrey and Angeline. Miss you guys so so so much you know? =)

For two consecutive weekends, I was at Sky Bar (with different group of people) @ Traders Hotel, downtown KL. Boy, it was good! Nice and classy atmosphere. Definitely a good chill-out place. ;)

This is Sky Bar.

They have a nice swimming pool in the middle of the bar. Pretty cool.

Classy atmosphere catered for the working class people.

It's located at the 33rd Floor.

It has a superb view of the KLCC twin towers. I'm seriously in love with the KLCC twin towers. =)

Last weekend, I went to visit the Eye On Malaysia. Nothing great, nothing special. Not even the fireworks. Bleh. However, it was a fun experience for me because it was my first time on a ferris wheel. =)

The ticketing booth is inside a gondola. Pretty cool.

The crowd. Damn crowded.

The view from the Eye.

KL night view from the Eye.

Pretty nice angle of the Eye on Malaysia.

What goes around comes around.

That's all for now. Phew, i think there are damn lot of photos in this post.

TGIF

It's that time of the semester again - Week Four.
And assignments are piling up like there's no tomorrow.
It is considered to be mild, per se.
But hell no, the stress level within myself is rising like the flood waters.

2 assignments to be submitted next week.
20% for each assignment.
How nice. How wonderful.
Also, another assignment to be submitted the week after next.
Life is beautiful? Well, think again.

Right now, I should be concentrating on my assignment actually.
But crap, my brains are constipated.
They can't function properly, they can't breathe properly.
I feel stuck. Not with sh*t, but with the word "assignments" in my head.

What should i do now? Please tell me.
My dirty laundry is tumbling in the washing machine as i'm typing this.
I need my much-needed beauty sleep.
But then again, i have to wait for my laundry to be done.

Argh. I'm feeling so pointless right now.
I make no sense, so please forgive me.
Ignore my ramblings in this post, if you want.
I'm trying to be as sane as possible.
However, insanity is inevitable.

Enough said. My washed hair is almost dry. I guess my laundry will be done in a few more minutes. Time for my much-needed beauty sleep. I shall put all the blame on my screwed up timetable and crappy public buses. Tomorrow i'll be typing my ass off for my media studies assignment. So wish me luck. Die-die by hook or by crook must finish it by tomorrow night no-matter-what-happens.

p.s.: I'm seriously allergic to public buses. Enough said.

so far so good

Life over here right now is pretty good based on the fact that i've met up with my bunch of A-level friends at MidValley on Saturday and also not forgetting giving a birthday treat to my beloved woman at the Dragon-i at One-U. Meeting up with super old friends (Ian and William) together with my beloved woman (again) at Williams on Saturday night. I have to say that Williams is a darn expensive mamak. Imagine this : 3 dishes, 4 ice-blended drinks cost RM85. Unreasonable, no? Even though the dinner's on Ian, but i still felt the pinch. *ouch*

Won't be able to meet up with my beloved woman till end of July. =( She's leaving for London this Saturday and will be there for one semester. Lucky woman. Get me a Paddington Bear alright? I don't mind if it's a belated birthday present. *evil laughter*

She won't read this entry anyway. *sticks out tongue*

By the way, today is the release of SPM results. My bro got his results already, and well, it wasn't good, it wasn't that bad either. As long as he can gain entry into Singapore Poly and study what he wants to study, he'll be happy. Good luck with the poly application, dude!

Oh well. Time to talk a bit about my subjects i'm taking this semester:

MEDIA STUDIES
- I love the lecturer, Dr Yeoh. His lectures are damn interesting, always relating to sexuality.
- I hate the reader. And yet i have to force myself to read.
- My presentation's next week! Assignment is due in 2 weeks time!

CONTEMPORARY WORLDS 1
- Again, I love the lecturer, Dr Helen. She's very, very knowledgeable. She knows me pretty well as she was my 'partner' during the orientation arts transition programme. So yup, that explains.
- This subject is chim, chim, chim! Super chim. All about World History (Irwin's gonna love this subject).
- Assignment due in 2 weeks time!

NEWSROOM THEORY AND PRACTISE
- The lecturer's long-winded. His lectures can put you to sleep. Enough said.
- One of my least favourite lecturers in Monash so far.
- I prefer feature writing to writing hardnews stories.
- Oh well, at least it's still writing. =)
- Assignment due in 3 weeks time!

AMERICAN MUSIC AND POPULAR CULTURE
- Don't really like the lecturer because she mumbles to herself.
- Pretty interesting subject, but i'm starting to doubt that it's easy.
- All we do during our tutorials is to listen, listen, and listen to various genres of music.
- Concert review assignment due in 3 weeks time!

It's dinner time. I can smell the chicken and cabbage soup already. Photos will be posted in the next post. Stay tuned.

awesome god

My dad is finally out from the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The doctors transferred him to a normal ward. It is a good sign. Thanks be to God.

=)

Hopefully if everything goes well, he will be discharged from the hospital and get to go back home on Sunday.

I've came to realize that my dad is a very very strong person, in terms of determination and will. The surgeons told us that my dad's heart was pretty bad, but he survived the complex bypass surgery where 3 of his arteries that were clogged were replaced with new vessels from his other part of his body like his arms and legs.

My dad is so brave. He's a hero. He's my hero.

I'm so proud of you, dad! =)

For now, i'm so looking forward to going back during my week-long mid-semester break which starts on Good Friday. I miss attending mass with my dad. Especially the Easter midnight mass. And i'm so gonna give him a bear-hug when i get back home on Good Friday. ;)

Nothing beats having a great father. And also, our Father in Heaven.

It is right to give Him thanks and praise. Praise the Lord.

Before i forget, a big and sincere THANK YOU to all of you who prayed for my dad. ;)

It was a very very tough time for all of us in the Lim family. But we made it through with God's grace.

Thanks be to God.

let us pray

God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way
He will make a way

By a roadway in the wilderness
He'll lead me
And rivers in the desert will I see
Heaven and earth will fade
But His word will still remain
He will do something new today.

I pray you'll be our eyes
And watch us where we go
And help us to be wise
In times when we don't know

Let this be our prayer

As we go our way
Lead us to a place
Guide us with your Grace
To a place where we'll be safe

I'm back in Johor Bahru for the weekend. This time, for my father. He's having a bypass (open-heart) surgery right now as i'm typing this. He's only 52 this year, i'm sure he can make it through the operation. For those of you who know/don't know him, please pray for him.

The smell of the hospital, the sight of so many machines attached to him, the monitor that shows his heartbeat, the sound of his heartbeat, the sight of just seeing him lying down there on the hospital bed in a purple-coloured robe, the words - Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), the doctors, the nurses, the surgeons, everything... It's just too much for me to bear.

='(

"Yina, be strong", that's what my dad told me when i held his hand.

I'm sure you'll be fine, dad. Everyone's praying for you right now. Your family, your children, your relatives, your friends, your priests. Everyone.

"I shall surrender to God", that's what my dad said before he was wheeled into the operation theatre.

Will be praying for your safety. Lord, receive our prayer.

Amen.
